Thought y'alld get a kick out of it: Counter-clipping/counter corner mutilation: a ritual associated with certain gaming cultures in which the corners of counters are snipped off, usually either with scissors or a razor. This is usually performed by game owner immediately after the punching process, although clippers have been known to mutilate punched counters that fall into their hands, usually by means of the secondary market. Practitioners claim variously that it makes counters easier to handle, increases their durability, or lets them fit into undersized hexes. They further claim that such counters are completely usable, as they are careful to ensure that none of the information on the counter is damaged. Although this practice meets with disapproval to disgust from most non-clippers, attempts to limit it have proven unsuccesful owing to the legal principle that counters are the chattel property of their owners, who may treat them as they wish. In particular, attempts to ensure that counters sold to clippers not be mutilated have not been enforceable at law. Unfortunatley, there is no way restore the corners to a counter mutilated in this fashion. _______________________________________________ Aslml-aslml.net mailing list Aslml-aslml.net@lists.aslml.net http://lists.aslml.net/listinfo.cgi/aslml-aslml.net To unsubscribe, visit the above website, or email webmaster@aslml.net
