Subject: ASL: Cibik's Ridge AAR
This is my first AAR to the List, and I hope the first of many.
I had the pleasure of playing Cibik's Ridge this Sunday. It was a blast. I would like to thank everyone who responded to my earlier post asking for advice for the Marines...
I set up strong on both flanks of the hill, with 2 HS and a MMG entrenched along the road in front of the Hill. The Japs started out by sending two flanking forces off of the main road, however his 10-1, Squad and Crew with MMG did walk into my HS trap. I had PBF with a factor of 20 at -2! I wounded his leader and reduced both crew and squad. It was one of the hi-lights of the day. Unfortunately I sallied forth from the foxhole protection to enter into close combat with the Japs. My first mistake. One HS failed the TC to enter CC (they knew what would happen) and the other HS was butchered in an AMBUSH! Jeez, those IJA guys know how to fight!
On my left flank I bounced another Japanese stack with my 9-1, Full squad and HMG with a PBF factor of 24 at -3! This resulted in a KIA of a squad and reduction of another squad!
Other than these moments, the scenario is a blur of CC and last minute rushes for VP. He squeaked by me in the end. He had 9 locations and I had managed to eliminate 21 of the 22 cvp's that would have resulted in a win for me. I left only my 9-2 and a full squad in control of a HMG on the map.
This was only my second PTO scenario, and I loved it. The Japanese are some hard adversaries to overcome. But I loved every minute of it.I am sure we made mistakes with the rules involved (my friend and I have only played for about 3 months now), but it is still fun to play!
